PAINTING A NEW BEGINNING (The Kathmandu Post)

11:56 AM

Kathmandu, June 09:

Artist Jyoti Prakash BK began painting at exactly 11:56 AM on a 7.8-meter-long and 45-inch-wide canvas at Basantapur.

Using vibrant colors, he completed a live painting symbolizing the April 25 earthquake. The dimensions represented the earthquake’s magnitude (7.8) and the 45th day after the disaster.

The artwork was organized by Kathmandu Eco Hotel and intended to be auctioned with a starting price of Rs. 1,000,000, with proceeds going to earthquake-affected schools.

The painting featured destroyed houses, damaged heritage, newspaper collage flowers representing purification and hope, and reconstructed temples symbolizing optimism.
